Behind the scenes at The Pond Report

us for information or with your questions.
ThePondReport
website is owned and operated by a freelance group of five "Pond Experts"
who have a total of 103 years of experience between them; almost as much as The
Rolling Stones they sometimes say! Their backgrounds are all different, from a
one-time bus driver turned Koi & GOldfish afficianado to a Grand-Father who
enjoys remote-control helicopters, yet the one common thread they share is their
love of the outdoors and their appreciation of the beauty of ponds. Before we
talk about our philosphy we'd like to introduce the people who work, in one way
or another, on this website. Many of you will have met a few by phone or email:
Derek
has been a private pond consultant for many years and specializes in assisting
his clients find a feng-shui peace in their outdoor environment. Over the last
20 years he has worked at two large pond supply and installation firms where he
learned a vast knowledge and was able to personally judge the effectiveness of
many products before starting his own private service for the clients who appreciated
his honesty and helpfullness. He now provides private pond consultations and helps
write articles and reviews for The Pond Report website, which he co-founded.
Martin
is a retired teacher who found his passion for small water gardens and ponds later
in his life. He enjoys macro-photography of the creatures around his pond. While
Martin has no recognized training as far as aquatics go he has become a legend
in his neighbourhood and with friends for being a wealth of information as far
as anything "pond" is concerned. A friend of Derek, Martin has begun
an interest in The Internet and like to offer help and suggestions to this website.
J
is one of the principal founders of ThePondReport.com website with Derek. While
a relative newcomer to the world of ponds, having just finished studies in website
technology and a hiatus of travels throughout Central-Asia, his interest and experience
in the Internet and public relations have made J the "front man" for
the website. Many of you will speak to J directly whenever you ask a question
by email. The vast knowledge of pond issues from small backyard water gardens
to large lakes comes from growing up with a family of aquatic-biologists and he
recalls having named each of the twelve Koi in his parent's pond as a child.
Dave
spent 12 years as a technician in an aquaculture supply store where his understanding
of pond care and maintenance quickly made him popular with his customers and clients.
He left the aquatic retail/tech world after deciding to spend time on his first
love which is writing and photography. He currently offers private consultation
services and is emplyed as a freelance author for various magazines where he writes
on the subjects of outdoor living, travel and responsible pond management
Andrea
completed studies in Environmental Education and supplies everyone on staff and
clients who contact The Pond Report with a deeper understanding of ecological
systems, providing information to assist citizens to increase their sensitivity
and stewardship for the environment and to better understand the cause and effect
relationship between human attitudes and behavior and the environment. While all
that sound very serious, Andrea is actually one of the funniest people helping
with the website. Mainly behind the scenes Andrea assures the quality of information
provided on the website and also has a large family who have years of experience
with aeration systems and windmills.
ThePondReport.com is certainly not North America's fastest-growing
specialty product review website, retailer or e-tailer of consumer pond and lake
related products. This is a small group project, nothing serious, we sometimes
ruffle feathers but our goal is to talk about what we love and naturally make
a bit extra money on the side for personal projects and expansion by selling quality
products through various agreements with manufacturers of products we belive in
and would endorse to our own familes. So far the feedback from clients on our
fairly new website has been very positive from our website visitors and we have
visitors from all around the world. Isn't the Internet great! We're still learning
more and so we appreciate your patience as we grow our website into something
helpful!
ThePondReport.com offers consumers a unique shopping experience
with the latest reviews and references of new pond products, technology and maintenance
products, often at a wholesale price, with a no-pressure, information-based sales
environment. ThePondReport.com is committed to the environment, kids and communities,
supporting non-profit organizations that help with sustainable growth and management
of resources.
TheThePondReport.com website and e-stores were opened in
the fall of 2006, by five like-minded individuals, and the goal of this website
and founding-fathers is to create an information based transactional website where
consumers can learn about products and then purchase certain brands from quality
manufacturers that ThePondReport.com has engaged into partnerships with. Well....that
is the legal definition perhaps...but really we wanted to have fun and be able
to write about what we love best. We all share a common passion for ponds and
that is what we are attempting to grow. The tallest oak starts from a small seed
and over the last 2 years we've taken a few advancing steps forward and a few
steps back. We look forward to the future and thank-you for your time and support.
Over the next 10 years, ThePondReport.com plans to expand. Sure, we have big dreams
and we are hoping to open a real brick and mortar type stores in Ontario, Manitoba,
Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, Maryland, Florida, New Mexico, Washington
or wherever we feel is the best and most healthy place to live and set up business,
but for now that is a dream. This is, until then, more a a virtual store and virtual
consulatation service.
ThePondReport.com is committed to continuing to
grow the brand and is looking towards finding other investors and like minded
publishing authors, writers and experts to help create a larger and more expansive
body of information always with the goal to create wealth through hard work. We
will not sacrifice honesty for financial gain and are commited to maintain a viable
business model while trying to both offer a free service providing information
on pond and lake care for private pond owners as well as industrial clients dealing
with leachate ponds, compost basins, and wastewater ponds.
ThePondReport.com
is not perfect and does not claim to be the ultimate judge or expert and all reviews
offered on this website are not to be taken as gospel. We belive, despite all
our experience, that the consumer, the person with the money, is the one who should
understand and research before they buy. We are here to help but we make no further
claims or warranties on service or products. All our reviews and recommendations
are based on in-coming knowledge from our list of contacts and manufacturing practices
may cause negative influences in product effectiveness that we may not be aware
of. Please understand that ThePondReport.com is a labour of love and not an agency
like Underwriters Listing or Canadian Standards Assocition. We try...sometimes
we're wrong!
We are here to have fun...as we dance this mortal coil! Email
us for information or with your questions.
ThePondReport.com has virtual
offices in Canada and the United States. The term "Office" should be
used loosely here as these are the locations of the homes of three of our most
available and implicated contributors. Products available for sale on this website
ship from the USA unless otherwise specified or indicated. We use PayPal for our
secure transactions.
